Retirement......Day 1

Nov. 1, 2013
ummmmm..... Nothing changed!  Greg up at 6am, had coffee ready when I crawled downstairs at 7.  In fact, I thought it was Saturday not Friday.  I had to keep looking at the calendar all day to refresh my memory. We got some more packing done and some housekeeping items taken care of.  All ready to leave on the red-eye Monday morning.

Pre-Retirement #2

The crate of supplies/gear will ship from Anchorage today.  We were told it would be 3 weeks getting to GA.  It will not be delivered to Waycross (where Dona's mom lives) but 60 miles away in Valdosta.  Of course they will deliver it to Waycross for a fee...... Hopefully we can borrow a truck from family and drive over and pick it up ourselves.

We arrive in GA on Monday Nov 4.  We're hoping the crate arrives before 15Nov.  As of yet we do not have an RV located so we'll be spending the first week or so checking out craigslist.  We have it narrowed down to an Itasco Navion but may have to change our search to what is available in the area.

Less than a week to go until official retirement status!

Pre-retirement #1

October19, 2013
2 weeks until Greg's official last day for work (not really a retirement, as he previously retired from Federal service in 2005, and has been working as a contractor since then).  Our plans are to fly to Atlanta on Nov 4, drive 4 hours south to Waycross (Georgia) where my mom lives, then look for a new/used Navion Class B motorhome.  For 6 weeks we will drive around the southern states to visit friends/family and see new places.  Maybe even fly to Cozumel Mexico for a little scuba diving.  I'll do my best to keep up with this blog to journal our adventures.

In preparation for our trip, Greg is putting together a crate so we can ship lots of things to my mom's; such as our bikes, additional camping gear (for overnight hikes), stuff for the RV (sheets, pillows, etc).  Next is to figure out what items of clothing to pack or ship.  It's really a mix of things because we don't know where we'll be going!!
